THE OPPORTUNITY – MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN, BARROW GAS TERMINAL

The successful candidate will be required to undertake routine engineering maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production/processing and condensate storage.

  • Duration: Open to review.
  • Current rotation: 1 week on/ 1 week off (11 hour day) will exist until 30th September. Thereafter, will move to working a 9-day fortnight (9 hour day)
  • Location: Barrow Gas Terminal
  • Rate: TBC and dependant on rotation.

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…

In role, you will be accountable for:

  • Executing routine and on-routine maintenance activities to the plant and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure the protection of plant, equipment, and the safety of employees.
  • Investigating complex technical problems relating to critical plant equipment, identifying solutions, and acting to return plant to normal operating service.
  • Preparing technical reports and maintaining appropriate records of activities within the recognised systems, for the benefit of future analysis and third-party audit.
  • Ensuring that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the area of work, and that appropriate perimetry is in place to ensure the protection of plant, equipment, and the safety of employees.
  • Carries out commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure planned plant operating programs are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to the design and commissioning of plant modifications including the initiation of recommendations for modifications to ensure the ongoing availability of plant and equipment.
  • Supervises other staff and vendor/contractor employees in undertaking particular work activities to ensure that activities are undertaken safely and efficiently in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the area of work, and that appropriate permitry is in place to ensure the protection of plant, equipment, and the safety of employees.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Good communication skills that allow for knowledge sharing which is clear and unambiguous.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively within teams, across organizations, and externally.
  • Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process operations / maintenance.
  • A sound understanding of engineering principles.
  • A thorough knowledge of the procedures and process systems that ensure ongoing integrity of health, safety, and environmental performance.

Training/Certification:

  • Minimum BTEC ONC in a Mechanical discipline.
  • Mechanical CompEx.
  • Preferred certification:
    • TMJI10 / TMJI19 Bolted Connections
    • SBT 01/02 Small Bore Tubing
    • Banksman Slinger Training
    • Forklift Training
