About the Role

As a Mechanical Technician, you will support our repair operations in Montrose by disassembling, inspecting, rebuilding, assembling, and testing mechanical equipment. You will work from engineering documentation and established procedures to ensure equipment is completed safely, accurately, and to the required quality standards.

Your contribution will help us deliver reliable equipment to our customers while supporting operational performance across safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disassemble, inspect, rebuild, assemble, and test mechanical equipment in accordance with NOV procedures and engineering requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, work instructions, and other technical documentation.
  • Use engineering measuring equipment, including micrometers, Vernier gauges, and dial indicators, to verify components and assemblies.
  • Complete equipment testing and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, including QA plans, workscopes, inspection and test reports, build sheets, and other required records.
  • Identify product defects and non-conformances, complete the appropriate documentation, and support troubleshooting and root-cause problem solving.
  • Rework or repair equipment and components in accordance with approved engineering specifications and changes.
  • Safely operate designated workshop equipment and ensure components move correctly through the workflow and designated staging areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities supporting safety, quality, cost, delivery, and operational performance.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and actively participate in team briefings, toolbox talks, safety activities, and the NOV competency programme.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Qualifications

  • A time-served apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent relevant mechanical qualification or practical experience.
  • Relevant hands-on mechanical experience gained within an industrial, manufacturing, heavy equipment, energy, aerospace, or comparable technical environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions.
  • Practical experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, Vernier gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to inspect, assemble, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment or components.
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices, quality standards, and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Practical problem-solving capability and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pressure equipment or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with equipment testing or Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Previous experience within oil and gas, energy equipment, heavy machinery, industrial manufacturing, or another relevant engineering environment.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving or root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer applications used for documentation and reporting.
