Mechanical Technician – Specialist Low-Volume Electric Vehicles
Bicester, Oxfordshire
£30,000–£40,000 per year, depending on experience

The Opportunity
We’re recruiting experienced Mechanical Technicians / Vehicle Assembly Technicians to join an innovative British automotive manufacturer creating a unique range of beautifully engineered, scaled-down electric classic cars.
This is not a conventional high-volume production-line position.
You’ll work in a specialist, low-volume environment where craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail are essential. Technicians work directly on high-value vehicle bodies and components, so we need people who are confident carrying out accurate mechanical and assembly work where getting it right first time really matters.
You must already live in the UK and have full UK working rights. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build vehicles from chassis through to final assembly
- Install mechanical, powertrain, electrical, body, trim and safety components
- Carry out accurate drilling, fitting and assembly work on high-value vehicle bodies and components
- Use hand and power tools confidently and precisely
- Read and work from engineering drawings, technical documentation and build instructions
- Support prototype and demonstration vehicle builds
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and assembly issues
- Inspect completed work and maintain exceptional build-quality standards
- Support continuous improvement of vehicle build and production processes
- Work closely with engineering and production teams

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years' hands-on vehicle assembly or closely related automotive experience
- Strong practical mechanical and assembly skills
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- Ability to carry out precision drilling, fitting and modification work
- Experience working from engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
- Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work confidently on expensive, high-quality components and vehicle bodies
- Currently living in the UK
- Full UK working rights without requiring visa sponsorship
We are particularly interested in candidates from low-volume automotive manufacturing, specialist vehicles, motorsport, prototype builds, classic cars, restoration or niche vehicle production.
Experience solely within large-scale automotive production environments will still be considered, but you should be able to demonstrate strong individual mechanical skills and confidence completing precise vehicle build work outside a repetitive production-line process.
