The Role
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a large scale petrochemical manufacturing site in Hull.
Working as part of the site maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance safely, efficiently and to a high standard across the plant. The role will cover planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, preventative and predictive maintenance, equipment installation and general mechanical maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative and predictive mechanical maintenance across the site.
- Investigate faults, troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete reactive repairs.
- Install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment and associated plant.
- Work safely and effectively within site procedures, standards and permit systems.
- Carry out work within your core mechanical trade and undertake additional tasks where suitably trained and competent, including lifting, slinging and pipefitting.
- Develop multi-discipline and broader maintenance capabilities where required.
- Support the inspection, testing and acceptance of completed maintenance work carried out by colleagues and contractors.
- Record maintenance activities accurately through SAP and other CMMS systems, including failure reporting, notifications, lessons learned and time recording.
- Identify equipment issues and provide feedback to maintenance and engineering teams to improve reliability and maintenance strategies.
- Assist with the identification, specification and requisition of spare parts and materials.
- Support workplace safety and condition audits.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the productivity, reliability and quality of maintenance activities.
- Facilitate and support contractors and specialist technicians working on site.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices, less experienced technicians and contractors where required.
- Work as part of a team to provide out-of-hours maintenance response and call-out cover.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Recognised mechanical craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, ONC/HNC or equivalent mechanical qualification.
- Previous mechanical maintenance experience within a petrochemical, chemical, process, manufacturing or similarly complex industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance and safe working practices.
- Experience of fault finding, planned maintenance and reactive maintenance.
- Experience using maintenance management systems such as SAP or similar CMMS.
- Strong personal commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently when required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours and maintenance requirements.
- Willingness to develop additional skills and contribute to the wider capability of the maintenance team.

Desirable
- Experience within a petrochemical or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Competence in lifting and slinging.
- Pipefitting experience.
- Experience working under permit-to-work systems.
- Experience supervising or supporting contractors.
- Experience working with pumps, valves, pipework and other process plant equipment.
