About the Role

As part of their continued support to a customer in the space sector, Expleo is seeking Mechanical Technicians (permanent or contract roles) with mechanical assembly and integration expertise in spacecraft payloads. Based at Portsmouth, this role involves shift work with a premium, offering growth and skill development within a rapidly expanding international organisation.


Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Engineering Tasks:
    • Use work orders from Apriso, EWIS, or paper as inputs for mechanical assembly.
    • Install and integrate kits of parts successfully, responsible for overall maintenance and execution.
    • Read and interpret 3D drawings and technical notes using Dragonfly or 3DXML.
    • Apply engineering data (e.g., torque values) following customer procedures for accurate mechanical installation.
    • Adhere to COSHH and risk assessment documents relevant to integration and assembly activities.
    • Carry out tasks such as:
      • Complete receipt, inspection, and handling of equipment to required standards
      • Conduct equipment installation, grounding, and bonding (waveguides, coaxial cables, thermal hardware, DC harnesses)
      • Assemble mechanical parts as directed by the customer
      • Inspect and verify procedural compliance with customer-quality standards
      • Author reports for anomalies or deviations
      • Ensure all work adheres to quality standards, passing inspections.

Requirements

  • Qualifications:

    • HNC or HND in engineering/maintenance OR a Space/Aerospace or high-quality production apprenticeship qualifications.
  • Experience:

    • High-quality, production-based mechanical assembly experience.
    • Clean-room experience, including FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) best practices.

    • Work on-site at the client’s Portsmouth facility 5 days per week.
