Job Description Summary
The Industrialization Team in GE Vernova- SMP (Chennai) is seeking a skilled Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design and development of automated test systems and fixtures for production facilities. This role focuses on the mechanical, automation, robotics, and mechatronics aspects of custom production and test solutions, supporting global standardization and continuous improvement of existing equipment. You will collaborate closely with R&D and process engineering teams to ensure NPI (New Product Introduction) success, high-quality production output, and operational excellence.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Development: Design and develop integrated mechanical and mechatronic solutions for custom automated test systems.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure all equipment designs strictly adhere to BIS standards, including IEC 61010, IS 14476 (ISO 12100), IS 14811, and IS 15051. Maintain compliance with IS/ISO 10218 regarding robotics and automation safety.
- Process Optimization: Apply automation and robotics to enhance manufacturing safety, quality, repeatability, and throughput.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with test engineers to integrate mechanical components with switching hardware, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.
- NPI Integration: Participate in NPI gateway reviews to support the design and implementation of test stations, ensuring production-ready solutions on schedule.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively upgrade existing test stations and fixtures to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Hands-on Execution: Provide direct support for the assembly, debugging, implementation, and troubleshooting of new or modified automation systems.
- Operational Excellence: Actively contribute to organizational safety protocols, Kaizen initiatives, cost-out projects, and global standardization efforts across the industrialization lifecycle.

Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Mechatronics or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in electrical and mechanical design.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong programming capabilities (LabVIEW, Python).
- Demonstrated expertise in automation equipment, fixtures, robotics, and manufacturing systems.
