About us
The Standard is a media company that offers news and culture for Londoners, everywhere. We deliver content through digital, audio, video, and social platforms, as well as a new weekly print product called The London Standard. We also create live experiences and events and collaborate with a number of OOH partners.
Our headquarters are located in Finsbury Square, London.
The role
We are looking for an exceptional Media and Campaigns Adviser to work directly with the leadership team at the Evening Standard in London. This is a high-trust role spanning strategic communications, media relations, campaigns, cultural projects, and selected editorial work. It requires intelligence, discretion, excellent judgement, and a strong understanding of the media and cultural landscape.
Provide strategic advice and practical support across media, communications, campaigns, public engagement, and reputation.
- Develop and deliver campaigns, announcements, and cultural or public-facing initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, broadcasters, publicists, cultural institutions, and other key contacts.
- Prepare concise briefings on current affairs, media trends, and cultural developments, identifying opportunities and risks.
- Draft and edit articles, speeches, statements, correspondence, and briefing notes to a very high standard.
- Handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and sound judgement.

About you
You are intellectually strong, curious, and well educated, with an excellent grasp of current affairs, culture, and ideas.
- You have substantial experience in media, PR, strategic communications, talent management, and/or campaigns, ideally with national media exposure.
- You have a strong, current network across UK media and communications, with useful relationships across arts, culture, publishing, fashion, hospitality, and London’s creative world.
- You are culturally engaged, read widely, and are comfortable moving between serious current affairs and cultural life.
- You write exceptionally well and can adapt quickly between public-facing copy, briefings, and private correspondence.
- You are fast, organised, resourceful, and calm under pressure, and comfortable working directly with a senior public figure.
- The strongest candidates will combine sharp judgement, first-rate writing, a serious contact book, cultural confidence, and absolute discretion.
