Job Overview

Kew Wakehurst is looking for an experienced Media and Communications Officer to join their dynamic on-site Marketing & Strategic Communications team in Sussex. The Media and Communications Officer will contribute to the delivery of a strong media profile through creative and impactful PR campaigns that develop Kew Wakehurst’s reputation as a wild botanic garden and living laboratory. They will support storytelling and content gathering by identifying and writing stories that support our communications goals. The postholder will also contribute to the efficient operation of the Wakehurst press office function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of impactful PR campaigns that secure high-profile coverage across broadcast, print, and digital platforms, ideally within a cultural organization or visitor attraction.
  • Have experience working in a busy press office alongside exceptional copywriting, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Educated to a degree level with a proven background in a similar role.
  • Be a collaborative team player and articulate communicator with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Capable of producing accurate, high-quality work at pace.
  • Confident in creating content across multiple digital channels and engaging a wide range of audiences.

This role will involve a modest amount (approx 30-50h per annum) of evening and weekend work, including for press events, film/photography shoots, on-call media duties during peak times, and communications during adverse weather.
