The Media Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Liverpool, responsible for driving revenue growth across Benham Publishing’s magazine and e-media portfolio. This role involves:

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with trade associations, corporate clients, and public-sector organisations
  • Promoting advertising, sponsorship, and content solutions

The Manager will:

  • Conduct market research
  • Develop tailored proposals
  • Prepare presentations
  • Negotiate commercial terms to secure long-term partnerships

Daily activities include:

  • Managing a sales pipeline
  • Coordinating closely with editorial and production teams to align client objectives with publishing schedules
  • Monitoring performance against targets

The role also requires:

  • Attending relevant industry events
  • Representing the company to prospects and partners
  • Providing regular reporting and forecasting to senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in media, publishing, or B2B business development, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong skills in client relationship management, including prospecting, consultative selling, negotiation, and account retention
  • Understanding of advertising, sponsorship, and digital media solutions, ideally within trade magazines, e-media, or technical publishing
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with confident written and verbal skills suitable for senior stakeholders
  • Comfort working on-site in Liverpool, collaborating cross-functionally with editorial, production, and design teams
  • Previous experience working with trade bodies, membership organisations, or government-related clients is highly beneficial
  • Previous experience in business, marketing, media, or a related field is preferred
