About the job

We are seeking an experienced Media Disputes Lawyer to join a leading UK law firm on an interim basis, covering a period of maternity leave. You will join an established team, advising on a broad range of reputation management and media law matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist Media Disputes Lawyer with strong reputation management experience to join a highly regarded team and work on complex, high-profile matters. The role will involve advising both claimants and defendants on pre and post publication issues, as well as a range of contentious privacy, confidentiality and data protection matters.

  • Duration: 9+ Months
  • Working Pattern: Full-Time
  • Location: London/Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office)
  • Rate: £Daily Rate DOE

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising claimants and defendants on a broad range of reputation management and media disputes matters.
  • Providing pre-publication and post-publication advice on contentious media issues.
  • Advising on breach of confidence and invasion of privacy claims.
  • Handling matters involving harassment and data protection.
  • Advising on urgent applications and obtaining, defending and discharging injunctions.
  • Managing disputes from initial advice through to resolution.
  • Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to provide clear, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Supporting the wider Media Disputes team on complex and time-sensitive matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in Media Disputes, Media Law or Reputation Management is essential.
  • Strong experience advising on breach of confidence, invasion of privacy, harassment and data protection matters.
  • Demonstrable experience providing both pre- and post-publication advice.
  • Experience acting for both claimants and defendants.
  • Experience obtaining, defending and discharging injunctions.
  • Excellent technical legal knowledge and the ability to provide clear, practical advice in time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
