Future Thought Leaders (FTL)

FTL is an education start-up with a mission to equip exceptional 16–18 year-olds to lead society’s response to the most pressing global challenges their generation will face over the next fifty years.

Its principal vehicle is an intensive residential programme bringing together intellectually ambitious young people with leading academics, thinkers and practitioners. Delegates present their own research, chair panel discussions, and respond to real-world challenges set by our experts. Each young person leaves the programme with a clear vision of how they will make an impact on society in the twelve months immediately following the programme.

The Role

We are looking for a Media Fellow (Digital Storyteller) to take responsibility for communicating the educational vision of FTL across our social media channels throughout the year. As well as telling the intellectually exciting stories from our residential and alumni programmes, a significant part of their remit is to analyse emerging global challenges and produce educational content to help prepare young people and their parents.

The Person

The role would suit an undergraduate or postgraduate student in a relevant discipline or a media professional with a strong academic or policy background. We are looking for someone who is as passionate about equipping young people for leadership as we are, and who is excited about analysing emerging global challenges from an analytical and ethical perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for FTL’s year-round presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
  • Develop a small number of clear content pillars which reflect the intellectual purpose of FTL.
  • Identify the compelling stories from the programme: the ideas being debated, questions raised by experts, original contributions of delegates, expert challenges and the impact of FTL beyond the residential week.
  • Write intelligent, original copy which captures the substance of these stories while making them engaging and accessible to prospective delegates and, crucially, their parents. Copy must be written by the Media Fellow rather than generated by AI.
  • Draw on an extensive existing asset bank of professional photography and media captured during FTL 2026 to create high-quality social content throughout the year.
  • Plan and schedule posts to maintain a consistent presence throughout the year, showing flexibility around key points in the FTL calendar.
  • Find creative and effective ways to extend FTL’s reach beyond its existing audience and grow a relevant following.
  • Make effective use of FTL’s network of experts, alumni, schools and partner organisations to increase the reach of strong content.
  • Monitor audience growth, reach and engagement, using this information to refine the content strategy.
  • Attend FTL 2027 at Cumberland Lodge from 26–31 July 2027, capturing photography, video, interviews and other material from which the following year’s content can be created.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
