Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum
Location: Huntingdon
Hybrid working
Contract: Fixed term contract - 12 months
Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (flexible working opportunities available)

Are you a creative and experienced media professional who thrives in a fast-paced press office environment? Do you have strong news instincts, a passion for reputation management, and the ability to turn emerging issues into compelling stories?

Our Corporate Affairs team is looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and proactive Media Lead to join our supportive and high-performing Media team on a 12-month fixed term basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting and enhancing Anglian Water's reputation, delivering proactive media campaigns that support our purpose and business strategy. You'll be responsible for identifying news hooks, creating engaging stories, developing thought leadership opportunities, and building strong relationships with journalists across local, regional, trade and national media.

Working at pace, you'll use your creativity and excellent judgement to manage reactive media issues, provide trusted advice to stakeholders, and help shape strategic narratives that bring our work and impact to life.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and delivering proactive media campaigns that support business priorities and enhance our reputation
  • Identifying opportunities within the news agenda and turning them into compelling stories
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists across a range of media outlets
  • Supporting reactive media management, providing timely and effective responses to emerging issues
  • Creating engaging content and identifying opportunities for thought leadership
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Corporate Affairs and the wider business to deliver impactful communications

  • Has experience working in a busy media relations or press office environment
  • Has excellent news judgement and can spot opportunities for proactive storytelling
  • Is passionate about strategic communications and reputation management
  • Can work confidently at pace, managing competing priorities and responding to changing situations
  • Brings creativity, curiosity and fresh ideas to the team
  • Is a strong collaborator who enjoys working as part of a high-performing team
