Grimsby Town Football Club, founded in 1878, is a full-time professional football club competing in Sky Bet League Two. Role Description

The Media Officer is a volunteer, on-site role based in Grimsby, supporting the club’s communications and media activities. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with matchday media operations
  • Coordinating with local and national media
  • Supporting the creation of content for the club’s website and social media channels
  • Preparing and publishing news updates, player and staff interviews, and promotional materials
  • Helping to manage press areas on matchdays

The Media Officer will work closely with club staff to ensure consistent messaging, timely information for supporters, and a professional representation of the club across all media platforms.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging content for different audiences.
  • Comfort using digital tools and social media platforms for publishing and promoting content (e.g., website CMS, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines, especially around matchdays and events.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, players, staff, and external media representatives.
  • Attention to detail and a professional approach to representing the club in public-facing communications.
  • Interest in football and willingness to learn about Grimsby Town Football Club’s history, values, and supporter base.
  • Previous experience in media, journalism, communications, or sports PR is beneficial but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in line with match and event schedules.
