Role Overview

South Shields FC is looking for a creative, energetic, and football-focused Media Officer to capture and showcase life across the Club’s Academy.

This role is ideal for someone who understands social media, enjoys creating sports content, and is comfortable working independently in a fast-moving football environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the Club’s Academy and International Academy social media accounts.
  • Attend selected Academy and International Academy fixtures to capture high-quality photo and video content.
  • Create engaging, creative, and platform-appropriate content to increase reach, engagement, and follower growth.
  • Ensure all content consistently follows the Club’s brand guidelines and visual identity.
  • Monitor and track social media performance monthly, providing reports on account growth, engagement, and key performance metrics.
  • Attend and actively participate in Club-provided CPD events.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong photography and/or videography skills, with the ability to capture engaging content in a live sporting environment.
  • Previous experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in editing photographs and short-form video content.
  • Strong creative instincts, with an excellent eye for compelling and engaging visual content.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain an effective content schedule.
  • Confident and professional when working alongside players, coaches, and Club staff.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in football, sports or a similar environment.
  • Experience with sports photography or videography.
  • An understanding of social media
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Canva, CapCut or similar software
  • Understanding of social media analytics and audience growth.
  • Full UK Driver's License

Interview Process

  • The successful candidate will make it through three stages
  • The first stage is the application process
  • The second stage will require the candidate to carry out a set task/project
  • The third stage will be a final interview

As this role will involve regular interaction with Academy players, including young people, the successful candidate will be expected to comply fully with South Shields FC’s safeguarding policies and procedures. Appropriate background and safeguarding checks will be required where applicable.
