How you'll make a difference
As a Media Production Officer within our Strategic Communications team, you will play a key role in creating engaging video and multimedia content that helps tell the stories that matter to our residents, communities and stakeholders. Working across a wide range of council services, from public health and education to climate change, major infrastructure projects and waste and recycling, you will develop creative content that promotes services, supports behaviour change campaigns and showcases the positive impact of council initiatives.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will identify opportunities for engaging content, generate creative ideas and produce compelling visual stories that bring council services and projects to life. Using your expertise in media production, you will ensure content is accessible, audience-focused and aligned with the council's tone of voice, helping to strengthen engagement with residents and partners.
What you will be doing
It will be your responsibility to proactively identify, plan and produce engaging video and multimedia content that supports council priorities, campaigns and communications objectives.
- Working independently, you will generate creative ideas, source stories and develop compelling content that promotes council services, projects and initiatives to a range of audiences.
- You will film and capture content across South Gloucestershire, including interviews, events, campaigns and service updates, ensuring high production standards at all times.
- Using your expertise in video editing and multimedia production, you will create high-quality content for digital channels, ensuring outputs are accessible, on-brand and aligned with the council's communication standards.
- Working closely with councillors, senior officers, service teams and external partners, you will develop effective communications solutions that help achieve organisational objectives.
- By monitoring content performance, audience engagement and emerging trends, you will identify opportunities to innovate, continuously improving the reach and impact of the council's communication activity.

What we need from you
It is essential you have proven experience of filming, editing and producing high-quality video content for digital and social media channels, with a good understanding of branding, accessibility requirements and editorial standards. You will be confident balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders while delivering engaging and effective communications.
- Given the nature of this role, you will have excellent storytelling, copywriting and content creation skills, with the ability to identify and develop content that resonates with different audiences across a variety of platforms.
- You must be able to work autonomously, managing competing priorities and using your initiative to identify creative opportunities that support communications objectives and deliver maximum impact.
- We require you to have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, councillors, partners and community groups.
- You will demonstrate strong digital and IT skills, including experience of using video production equipment and content management or social media tools.

What you need to know
- Your salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
- This is for a one year limited term contract.
- This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, Yate and from home.
- Interviews will be held on 14th October 2026.
