Media Relations Officer
Are you an experienced communications professional with excellent media skills and sound judgement? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same?
We're looking for a Media Relations Officer to help protect and build on Sheffield City Council's reputation. You'll work across a broad range of high-profile issues, managing media enquiries, securing positive coverage and providing expert communications advice to officers, senior leaders and elected Members.
- Develop compelling stories
- Write media releases and statements
- Build strong relationships with journalists
- Help deliver communications campaigns that support council priorities
- Play a key role in handling sensitive and complex issues
- Ensure accurate, timely and effective communication with the public and the media
We're looking for someone with experience in media relations, journalism, public relations or communications within a large and complex organisation. You'll be confident working under pressure, able to manage competing priorities, and skilled at turning complex information into clear, engaging content.

Some out-of-hours working is required, including participation in the communications on-call rota.

Flexible working opportunities:
- Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year

Salary:
- Starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade
- Consideration for starting at the point of minimum advantage within the grade if you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade
