Description

Media Sales Executive
Northern Echo | LOCALiQ | Hybrid Working

Are you a motivated sales professional who thrives on building relationships, winning new business, and helping local companies grow?

LOCALiQ, part of Newsquest Media Group, is looking for an ambitious Media Sales Executive to join our Northern Echo team, covering the North East region. This is an exciting opportunity to represent one of the area's most respected and trusted media brands while selling a comprehensive range of advertising and marketing solutions to the SME marketplace.

In this hybrid role, you'll work from the office Monday to Wednesday, with Thursday and Friday working from home. You'll engage with local businesses, understand their challenges and objectives, and develop tailored advertising campaigns designed to deliver measurable results.

Using our extensive portfolio of print and digital products, including display advertising, social media solutions, websites, SEO, PPC, and other digital marketing services, you'll become a trusted partner to businesses looking to increase their visibility, generate leads, and grow their customer base.

This role offers the opportunity to join a market-leading media organisation with excellent training, support, career development, and earning potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities across the North East region through proactive prospecting and business development activity.
  • Build strong relationships with business owners and key decision-makers within the SME market.
  • Conduct consultative sales meetings to identify client objectives, challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Present and sell tailored advertising and marketing solutions across print and digital platforms.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation through to negotiation and closing.
  • Develop and grow existing customer accounts, identifying additional revenue opportunities.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed monthly revenue targets and performance objectives.
  • Maintain an accurate and healthy sales pipeline using CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with internal creative, digital, and campaign teams to ensure successful client outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging digital products, and competitor activity.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while positioning yourself as a trusted marketing advisor.
  • Represent the Northern Echo and LOCALiQ brands professionally within the local business community.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
