We’re looking for a compassionate, organised and confident Mediation Advisor to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Mediation Service.
In this varied role, you’ll support families, young people, education providers, local authorities and other professionals throughout the mediation process. From responding to initial enquiries to coordinating mediation meetings, you’ll help ensure everyone receives clear, impartial and supportive guidance.
You’ll be a key point of contact for service users and professionals, managing appointments, maintaining accurate case information and helping cases progress smoothly within required timescales.
You’ll join a supportive and award-winning remote team where collaboration, empathy and professionalism are at the heart of what we do. Although we work remotely, we stay closely connected through regular team meetings, supervision, training and ongoing learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge of SEND mediation while making a meaningful difference to children, young people and their families.
Location: Homebased, with occasional travel for team meetings and/or training
Hours: 36 hours per week. Flexible hours can be discussed at interview
Salary: £24,864 per annum
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as a first point of contact for families, young people and professionals, responding to enquiries with care and professionalism.
- Providing clear and impartial information about the SEND mediation process.
- Coordinating mediation meetings and information and advice sessions, ensuring appointments and deadlines are effectively managed.
- Communicating with all parties throughout the mediation process and providing timely follow-up.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records using our case management systems.
- Supporting individuals who may be experiencing conflict, distress or challenging circumstances with empathy and sensitivity.
- Making informed decisions on cases in line with relevant policies, procedures and the SEND Mediation framework.
- Supporting the wider team with administration, reporting, feedback and service improvement.
- Taking part in regular team meetings, supervision, training and professional development.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience managing a busy workload in a customer-focused and confidential environment.
- Is highly organised, with strong administrative and planning skills.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills and can build positive relationships with a range of people.
- Is confident using digital systems, including email, online calendars and Microsoft Teams.
- Can work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Has a calm, empathetic and respectful approach, particularly when supporting people who may be distressed or experiencing conflict.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, impartiality and inclusive practice.
- Enjoys working collaboratively and is open to learning, feedback and professional development.

An understanding of SEND is desirable, but you do not need previous experience of SEND mediation, as full training will be provided.
