Medical Affairs Manager

Introduction to Role

Join our dynamic team at AstraZeneca as a Medical Affairs Manager. In this role, you will be at the forefront of medical innovation in the Oncology field, providing clinical insights, maintaining a strong customer focus, and ensuring clinical governance aligns with the Medical and Business Unit objectives. Accountabilities

As a Medical Affairs Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing medical input to business strategic and operational planning for Lung Cancer or Gastrointestinal Cancers
  • Aiding the delivery of clinical insight, customer focus, and clinical governance into Medical and Business Unit objectives
  • Developing and delivering pre-/peri-launch and life-cycle management medical plans
  • Working closely with the field MSL team, MSP, head office medical team, and other cross-functional teams to deliver local brand strategic plans and medical tactics

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Registered Physician (GMC), Pharmacist (General Pharmaceutical Council), or Scientist (PhD/MSc)
  • Proven Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong project leadership and delivery skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution
  • Experience developing and leading medical education strategies and peer-to-peer learning initiatives to address identified educational needs
  • Good understanding of the UK healthcare environment, including NHS structures, decision-making processes, and stakeholder networks
  • Demonstrated ability to build credible scientific relationships and engage effectively with external healthcare and scientific stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability, ownership, and personal impact
  • Strong scientific and clinical acumen, with the ability to interpret, evaluate, and communicate complex data
  • Knowledge and practical application of the ABPI Code of Practice and PMCPA requirements
  • Qualified ABPI Final Signatory/Nominated Signatory, or willingness to obtain certification within 9 months of appointment

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Advanced qualification or specialist training in Oncology
  • Membership or Fellowship of a Royal College or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Experience in lung and/or gastrointestinal tumour oncology
  • Experience leading evidence generation activities, including real-world evidence, observational research, or investigator-initiated studies
