Medical Affairs Operations & Governance Consultant
Remote Working (+ London)
12-month contract £400 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
The Opportunity:
Our client is a leading global pharmaceutical organisation seeking an experienced Medical Affairs Operations, project management, programme governance, or business process implementation Contractor to support its Global Medical Affairs organisation.
This is a key operational role focused on the design, implementation, and embedding of processes, digital capabilities, and governance across a number of interconnected Medical Affairs workstreams, including Integrated Medical Communication Planning (IMCP), Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP), and the Scientific Communication Platform (SCP).
The successful candidate will help translate strategy into practical processes and digital workflows, supporting implementation, stakeholder adoption, and sustainable behavioural change.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Drug Development, Life Sciences, Business Management, or a relevant discipline.
- 6+ years' experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related environments, ideally involving project/programme management, process implementation, or workstream rollout.
- Proven experience managing programmes or complex workstreams within matrixed health or life sciences organisations.
- Strong experience in process design, implementation, and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading or coordinating multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of stakeholder management, governance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience supporting the implementation or rollout of digital tools, platforms, or technology-enabled processes.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to synthesise complex information and data into clear, meaningful content and recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and confidence working autonomously.
- Good understanding of the drug development lifecycle and scientific environment.

Desirable Experience
- Experience within Medical Affairs Operations.
- Experience with Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP), Integrated Medical Communication Plans (IMCP), and Scientific Communication Platforms (SCP) are highly desirable.
- Formal project management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Six Sigma.
Role and Responsibilities:
Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP) – Governance & Process
You will support the rollout and operationalisation of the Integrated Evidence Planning process, including:
- Establishing and supporting governance structures for the IEP process.
- Helping define and implement the processes, workflows, and capabilities required to support the IEP.
- Coordinating training, stakeholder onboarding, and rollout activities.
- Developing practical ways of working that enable consistent adoption across Medical Affairs.
- Supporting governance forums, stakeholder meetings, documentation, actions, and follow-up.
- Working across multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective implementation.
- Identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement throughout the rollout.

IEP Templates & Standardisation
A key part of the role will be bringing greater consistency and standardisation to IEP templates across different therapeutic areas.
- Review existing IEP templates and ways of working across the organisation.
- Work with stakeholders across different disease areas to identify what should be standardised and where flexibility is required.
- Help develop and centralise standard IEP templates.
- Support the development of both core/central templates and executive-level templates.
- Ensure templates are practical, user-friendly, and aligned to the needs of different stages of the disease and project lifecycle.
Digital Enablement
You will help shape the digital capability supporting Integrated Evidence Planning.
- Working with stakeholders to understand the requirements for an IEP digital tool.
- Helping assess and identify the most appropriate digital solution.
- Defining required functionality and capabilities.
- Distinguishing between essential requirements and future enhancements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of the digital solution.
- Working with internal stakeholders and external technology partners to ensure the tool meets business needs.
