Job Overview
The clinical duties will involve assessing and treating patients in outpatients (Bevan Ward) and theatres at PAH. They will include a broad range of OMFS patients and the post will also involve management of trauma and emergency patients at PAH.
The non-clinical responsibilities include supporting the trust in terms of its contractual obligations to its commissioners and in achieving the trust targets. The post-holder will be bound by the conditions in their contract and also the GMC’s expectations as set out in “Good Medical Practice.”
In addition, the post holder will be expected to evolve to encompass managerial, educational or other extended roles dependent on the specific interests of the appointee.
The successful applicants will be expected to participate actively in the diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients. The role of the right candidates would be to contribute to the oral & maxillofacial surgery consultation clinics and minor operation sessions under local anesthetic and to attend and support OMFS theatre sessions. The post also involves on-call out of hours duties.
We have a dedicated Oral & Maxillofacial surgery department where the majority of activities will be carried out. Support will be provided by a mix of dental and general nursing staff in addition to the departmental DCT’s and F2.
The post holder will be expected to attend and contribute to the department’s clinical meetings, audits and clinical governance.
The post-holder will be expected to work with colleagues and our management team to ensure the service is delivered in line with best practice.
There will be opportunities and encouragement will be offered to support the successful applicant to develop areas of interest in clinical and non-clinical areas including post-graduate education.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
