Medical Director, Clinical Research (Long Term Contract)

APX Life Science is partnered with an innovative, early-stage biotechnology company to appoint a Medical Director, Clinical Research on a contract basis.

Location: London / Hybrid
Contract: Long-term contract
Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

APX Life Science is partnered with an innovative biotechnology company progressing a growing clinical development portfolio.

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Development Physician / Medical Director to provide medical and scientific leadership across clinical development programmes.

This is a highly hands-on opportunity within a growing biotech environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and other cross-functional teams, providing medical leadership from study design through execution.

The role will have significant exposure to senior leadership and external stakeholders, including investigators and key opinion leaders.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD, MBBS, MBChB or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech clinical development experience.
  • Strong experience leading or supporting global clinical development programmes.
  • Experience taking programmes from early development through first-in-human and/or proof-of-concept studies.
  • Strong understanding of ICH-GCP and the clinical trial lifecycle.
  • Experience interpreting clinical and safety data and applying sound medical judgement.
  • Strong experience reviewing clinical protocols and clinical development documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial biotech environment with evolving processes and priorities.

  • First-in-human / Phase I studies
  • Translational medicine
  • Medical monitoring
