Medical Director for Place / Directorate - Redbridge

New senior medical leadership role part of NELFT’s major investment in clinical leadership

North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) is making a significant and purposeful investment in medical leadership. As part of this, we are excited to introduce new Medical Director roles for Place / Directorate, strengthening medical voice, influence and visibility at every level of the organisation.

  • 5 PAs of protected medical leadership time, with up to 5 PAs clinical practice, recognising leadership as core work, not an addon.

The consultant contract is permanent and the Medical Director role is fixed term for 3 years with the opportunity to extend with mutual agreement.

These are brand-new roles, created to ensure that medical leadership is fully embedded in place-based and corporate decision-making, and that doctors are supported, heard and able to shape the future of care for our communities.

As a Medical Director for Place / Directorate - Redbridge, you will provide visible, inclusive and values-led leadership across mental health, community physical health and children’s services within your locality. You will work in close partnership with Integrated Care Directors and senior clinical leaders, while also being a core member of the Chief Medical Officer’s Leadership Team and the Wider Executive Management Team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
