This is more than a Country Medical Director role.

At Mundipharma, you'll have the opportunity to lead Medical Affairs across the UK & Ireland, influence strategic business decisions at the highest level, and play a pivotal role in bringing innovative treatments to patients with significant unmet medical needs.

As a key member of the UK Leadership Team, you will drive medical strategy, lead a highly capable team, and spearhead scientific engagement that directly impacts patients, healthcare professionals, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

A major highlight of this role is the opportunity to support the continued launch and lifecycle strategy of rezafungin, an important innovation in invasive fungal disease, while helping shape the future of our Anti-Infectives portfolio.

The Opportunity

As Country Medical Director for the UK & Ireland, you will be accountable for the development and execution of the country's medical strategy, ensuring world-class scientific engagement, evidence generation, and medical governance.

You will serve as the organization's senior medical leader within the market, providing strategic direction while ensuring that all activities maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, compliance, and patient focus.


Key Responsibilities

Medical & Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the UK & Ireland Medical Affairs organization and drive scientific excellence across the Anti-Infectives portfolio.
  • Develop and execute impactful Medical Plans that support patient outcomes and business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the UK Leadership Team.
  • Drive the successful implementation and lifecycle strategy of key brands, including rezafungin.
  • Develop future medical leaders through coaching, mentoring, and capability building.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK and Irish regulations, codes of practice, and governance requirements.
  • Manage Medical Affairs budgets and resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with Global Medical teams to align local execution with global strategy.
  • Champion a culture of patient-centricity, innovation, and scientific excellence.

Scientific Engagement & External Leadership

  • Build trusted partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare institutions, and scientific societies.
  • Serve as a senior scientific ambassador for Mundipharma across the UK & Ireland.
  • Lead meaningful patient engagement initiatives and partnerships with advocacy groups.
  • Identify emerging medical insights and translate them into strategic opportunities.
  • Represent Medical Affairs in key external scientific discussions and industry collaborations.

Cross-Functional Influence

  • Provide medical leadership and guidance across commercial and non-promotional activities.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Market Access to maximize patient and healthcare system value.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Ensure scientific materials meet the highest standards and comply with UK and Irish Codes of Practice.
  • Support evidence generation strategies that strengthen clinical value and scientific credibility.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (MD) strongly preferred, or Pharmacist (MPharm/equivalent)
  • ABPI Medical Signatory accreditation/expertise
  • GMC registration and revalidation (where applicable)
  • Fluency in English

Experience

  • 7+ years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience
  • Strong experience in Anti-Infectives, either in industry or clinical settings
  • Demonstrated success leading Medical Affairs teams and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Proven experience building and maintaining external scientific partnerships
  • Specialty Care and/or Rare Disease launch experience

Highly Desirable

  • Previous Country Medical Director experience
  • Experience in global or multi-country environments
  • Knowledge of Clinical Development and Medical Operations
  • Additional qualifications in Pharmaceutical Medicine or related fields
