OmniaMed is a medical communications organisation delivering a wide range of projects for pharmaceutical company sponsors and healthcare professional audiences. Our medical communications division creates and delivers educational projects across print, in-person and digital channels in collaboration with clients from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, working closely with clients and healthcare professionals to develop high-quality, engaging and appropriate content.
Role description
We are looking for an experienced Medical Editor to join the medical communications team.
This is a varied editorial role combining copyediting, proofreading, content development and quality assurance with project and production support. You will review a wide range of materials to ensure they are coherent, accurate, consistent and appropriate for their intended audience, while ensuring they meet project briefs and OmniaMed's quality standards. You will work closely with colleagues across the scientific services, client services, digital, creative and business development teams, as well as with healthcare professional contributors and pharmaceutical company sponsors.
The role will also involve supporting the production of materials across different formats, including PowerPoint presentations, marketing materials, videos and digital content. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of relevant healthcare and therapy areas and become a key source of knowledge on the ABPI Code of Practice within the team.

Please note: This is a medical communications role, not a journal publishing position. The role does not involve editing academic manuscripts or working as a journal editor.
Key responsibilities
- Copyediting and proofreading a wide range of medical communications materials for consistency, style, spelling and grammar, and suitability for the intended audience
- Ensuring materials meet the requirements of the project brief and internal quality standards
- Maintaining OmniaMed's house style guide: updating it as required, providing guidance on style queries, and training other members of staff
- Checking and resolving copyright issues
- Formatting and layout of PowerPoint presentations, including recreating simple graphs, figures and diagrams
- Incorporating feedback from internal reviewers, healthcare professional contributors and pharmaceutical company sponsors
- Supporting the upload of materials and references into content approval systems such as Veeva Vault
- Conducting final quality control and technical checks on materials prior to print or electronic distribution
- Managing editorial tasks across multiple projects and prioritising work effectively
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of relevant healthcare and therapy areas
- Keeping up to date with the ABPI Code of Practice and applying its requirements to project materials
- Working collaboratively and transparently with scientific services, client services and other internal teams.

Person specification
- Strong editorial and proofreading skills, including experience editing medical or scientific content
- Experience reviewing other people's work and signing off projects from a quality control perspective
- Excellent attention to detail and meticulous editing skills
- Very good IT skills, particularly in Word and PowerPoint
- The ability to handle and synthesise complex information
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage work across multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a precise, empathetic and tactful approach
- A pragmatic approach to problem solving
- A basic understanding of the UK healthcare system and key rules of spelling and grammar
- Experience of ABPI compliance, working with healthcare professional audiences, or working in a medical communications agency would be strongly advantageous.
Working arrangements
The role is permanent and is based within OmniaMed's Central London office. The role is hybrid; a minimum of 2 days per week in the office are required. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm.
