Job Opportunity

Applications are invited for the post of Medical Laboratory Assistant based in the Pathology Department at Ninewells Hospital.

About the Department

We are a progressive, expanding teaching hospital department with an annual workload of approximately 47,000 surgical pathology specimens and 2,000 diagnostic cytology cases.

Location

The base is at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Role Responsibilities

The successful applicants will be required to carry out routine laboratory duties across the various sections of the Department; these will include:

  • Specimen reception duties & computer data entry
  • Record keeping
  • Providing support to staff carrying out histological dissection, chemical preparation, filing and other basic laboratory procedures in support of Biomedical Scientists
  • General housekeeping

Qualifications

Candidates will be educated to SVQ level 3 or can provide evidence that they have equivalent experience or competencies within a laboratory setting.

Requirements

  • Compliance with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team

Hours

36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
