Role Description
The Medical Lead Doctor is a part-time, hybrid role based in Bournemouth, with the flexibility to perform some responsibilities from home. This role involves providing clinical leadership for services within PHL Group, including oversight of patient care quality, safety, and governance. The Medical Lead Doctor will review and approve clinical protocols and pathways, support service development, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and operational leads. Day-to-day activities include supervising clinicians, participating in case reviews and audits, offering expert clinical advice, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role also requires engagement with stakeholders, including NHS and private partners, to ensure services align with contractual requirements and best practice standards.

Qualifications

- Fully qualified medical doctor with current GMC registration and a license to practice.
- Significant clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, or acute services, preferably within NHS settings.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, service oversight, or medical management roles.
- Strong skills in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and decision-making abilities, including prioritisation in a busy clinical environment.
- Comfort with hybrid working models, including digital tools for remote meetings, supervision, and documentation.
- Commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
- Experience working with or leading Out of Hours, urgent care, or similar services is highly desirable.
- Additional training or qualifications in healthcare leadership, management, or public health are an advantage.
