Medical PA

£35,000 - £40,000 | Monday to Friday | On-Site | East Sussex

Are you an experienced Medical PA, Medical Secretary, or Senior Healthcare Administrator looking for a varied and rewarding role within a busy healthcare setting?

We are seeking a highly organised, professional, and compassionate Medical PA to provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support while ensuring patients receive an exceptional experience throughout their healthcare journey.

The Role

This is a key position supporting a Consultant and wider healthcare team. You will manage diaries, appointments, referrals, clinical correspondence, and patient communications, ensuring every patient receives efficient, professional, and responsive support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full PA and secretarial support to a Consultant.
  • Manage complex diaries, clinics, meetings, and appointments.
  • Prepare and distribute clinic letters, reports, and medical correspondence.
  • Process referrals and ensure all supporting documentation is available.
  • Coordinate consultations, investigations, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Liaise with consultants, GPs, hospitals, insurers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor outstanding reports, results, and actions, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Handle confidential information in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Support patients via telephone and email, providing a professional and reassuring service.
  • Assist patients through the administrative stages of their care pathway.
  • Resolve queries efficiently and escalate clinical matters where appropriate.

About You

  • Previous experience as a Medical PA, Medical Secretary, or Senior Healthcare Administrator.
  • Experience working within a healthcare environment, either private healthcare or NHS.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Strong typing, proofreading, and document formatting abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and handling sensitive information.
  • Able to work independently while remaining a strong team player.
  • Calm, professional, and patient-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Private healthcare administration experience.
  • Medical terminology knowledge or medical secretarial qualification.
  • Experience with private medical insurance processes.
  • Familiarity with electronic patient record systems.
  • Understanding of private patient pathways.
