Medical Rostering Project Lead
The Medical Rostering Project Lead is responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing development of the Trust's medical e-rostering system for medical and dental staff. The post holder will act as the Trust's lead specialist for medical rostering, providing expert advice, system leadership, and operational support to maximise workforce utilisation, improve compliance, and support safe patient care.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee system configuration, reporting, training, governance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support delivery of workforce transformation objectives through effective rostering practices, high-quality data, and meaningful management information.
- Provide specialist leadership for the Trust's medical e-rostering system, ensuring it supports the safe, effective, and efficient deployment of medical and dental staff.
- Lead system implementation, optimisation, and ongoing development, working with clinical, operational, and workforce teams to promote best practice and maximise the benefits of digital rostering.
- Provide expert advice on medical rostering, oversee training, reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities, and support services to improve workforce planning, compliance, and productivity.
- Analyse workforce data, develop management information, and support decision-making at operational and strategic levels.
- Manage relationships with system suppliers and key stakeholders, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Line manage the Medical Rostering Project Support Officer to ensure delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.

We have a long and proud history of caring for generations of local people and can trace our roots all the way back to 1814 with the first hospital in Bolton – the Bolton Dispensary in the town centre.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan, and Salford, we deliver hospital and community-based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 310,000+ people.
