Medical Sales Specialist (Tissue Diagnostics & Cellular Pathology)

Contract: 12 months (up to 3 years)

Territory: Central UK (West Midlands & Wales)

Pay rate: Up to £300.00 per day

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Medical Sales Specialist to join our Tissue Diagnostics sales team covering the Central UK region (West Midlands & Wales). In this role, you will promote the high-value proposition of our diagnostic products to key clinical, procurement, and finance stakeholders across designated NHSi networks (including N8, ME4, and Wales).

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Strategy & Execution: Lead the account sales strategy and execution for the product portfolio across your territory. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Customer Account Managers, Product Specialists, Managed Laboratory Service Teams, and Workflow IT Specialists.
  • Complex Procurement Management: Manage and coordinate complex, pan-pathology procurements. Utilize a disciplined yet creative sales methodology to ensure all milestones are delivered on time and in full.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, credible relationships with key decision-makers across all organizational levels, including senior NHS management, clinical leads, procurement teams, and finance directors.
  • Market Intelligence & NHS Landscape: Actively monitor market changes, NHS developments, tendering processes, payment models, and procurement pathways across the territory to maximize commercial opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
  • Territory Growth & Retention: Formulate and execute innovative strategies to safeguard and retain existing accounts while driving strategic acquisition of new laboratory sites.
  • Commercial Excellence: Utilize modern digital sales engagement tools and data insights to drive high-impact commercial outcomes and best practices throughout the territory.

Critical Requirement

Candidates MUST possess direct, hands-on experience and expertise in Cellular Pathology and Tissue Diagnostics. Applications without demonstrated experience in these specific areas will not be considered.

Education & Background

  • BSc (Hons) / BA degree (or equivalent) in a Life Science discipline, OR a proven background as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Essential hands-on experience and clinical understanding of Cellular Pathology, Tissue Diagnostics, and Immunohistochemistry (IHC), including knowledge of cancer pathways.

Sales & Industry Experience

  • Demonstrated track record in healthcare field sales or deep operational expertise within pathology/histology diagnostic laboratories.
  • Experience navigating NHS procurement, tendering, and payment frameworks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven ability to define customer needs, manage barriers to solution adoption, and turn high-level strategy into actionable, high-yield territory execution.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage complex sales cycles involving multiple cross-departmental stakeholders.
  • High level of resilience, adaptability, and self-motivation to operate independently while maintaining active communication and collaboration with internal teams.
  • Exceptional credibility and communication skills when speaking to technical, clinical, and commercial audiences.
