An Exciting Opportunity within the Cellular Pathology Department
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cellular Pathology Department for a full-time Band 3 Medical Support Secretary to join our busy and dedicated team.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive administrative and audio-typing service supporting the Non-Gynaecological Cytology and Histopathology Services, ensuring the efficient processing of daily workloads and a variety of administrative duties. This is a vital role that contributes to the smooth running of a high-performing clinical service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Consultant Pathologists, junior medical staff, and the wider Cellular Pathology team.
- Provide accurate clinical correspondence and reports through audio typing, digital dictation, and copy typing, including complex histopathology and cytology diagnostic reports.
- Manage departmental enquiries and shared mailboxes.
- Maintain records, support meetings, input data onto relevant systems, and assist with general office duties.
- Work flexibly as part of the team, prioritising workload, meeting deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting high-quality service delivery.
Requirements
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Excellent IT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office applications.
- RSA/OCR typing or word processing qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Good understanding of medical terminology.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines and managing competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
