NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, part-time Medical Secretary to join the Cardiology Service within Inverclyde Royal Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is keen to develop their skills and deliver a high-quality secretarial service.

You will provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to Consultants and associated medical staff. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and a commitment to delivering a professional service to patients and colleagues.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: part-time (30)
  • Location: Cardiology Service, Inverclyde Royal Hospital
  • Work Pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30 – 15.00

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical secretarial support to Consultants and associated medical staff.
  • Assist with the organisation of Consultants' workloads, managing calendars and work commitments, and coordinating relevant inpatient waiting lists.
  • Deal with patient enquiries in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring a high standard of customer service at all times.
  • Work independently, use initiative when required, and provide cross-cover for other secretaries across NHS Clyde to support service delivery and continuity while contributing to the ongoing improvement of working practices and administrative processes within the service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.

Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.

Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
