Role Description

The Medical Secretary role is a part-time (with potential to be full time) position based in Glasgow. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation and prepartjng reports
  • Coordinating communication between patients, clinicians, and corporate clients
  • Preparing and processing medical forms
  • Ensuring that the medical office runs smoothly

The role also involves:

  • Typing and formatting clinical letters
  • Handling confidential information in line with data protection standards
  • Supporting administrative processes for services such as GP consultations, physiotherapy, and occupational health

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong appointment scheduling skills and experience coordinating patient or client bookings.
  • Candidates should possess solid clerical skills, including document management, filing, and general office administration.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of medical terminology and experience in a medical office or clinical setting.
  • Candidates should possess accurate typing skills and proficiency with common office software (e.g., word processing, electronic records systems).
  • Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and patient-centered approach.
  • Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Experience in private healthcare or occupational health settings and familiarity with UK healthcare standards is beneficial.
  • A relevant administrative or medical secretarial qualification, or equivalent experience, is advantageous.
