We are currently looking for an experienced and proactive medical secretary to join the General Surgery Department within the surgical division.

We are looking for an individual with Histopathology experience to support our established team in the Cellular Pathology Department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. This is a forward-thinking, innovative department which provides Cellular Pathology diagnostic services to the whole of BCUHB. You will need to be highly motivated, flexible in approach, be able to use your initiative in sometimes complex situations, to provide an excellent administration support to the department, contributing to the delivery of an effective and efficient service in a professional, sensitive, and helpful manner. You will work as part of a team supporting other team members and will need to work closely with a range of staff.

Main Duties of the Job

The Team Secretary Function Provides An accurate, confidential, and supportive administration service for Pathologists, and departmental managers in order to provide a safe and efficient patient pathway. The post holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive high-quality secretarial administrative service.

To support the coordination of the administration arrangements to provide a high-quality supportive secretarial service to the Cellular Pathology Department clinical, administrative, and management teams. To work independently and be accountable for:

  • Organising/prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are met.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience.
  • RSA/OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft Word.
  • IT related qualification CLAIT plus/ECDL or equivalent.

Desirable Criteria

  • AMSPAR – City & Guilds L3.
  • NVQ in Customer Service.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working within the NHS.

Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Competently communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced in planning and organising and prioritising own workload.
