Job Title: Medical Technician - Armed Forces Recruitment

Salary: £30,000 per annum based on full time equivalent

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week /Part Time minimum 3 days per week for 22,5 hours per week

Right to live and work in the UK is required for this role.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo BPSS security clearance.

Role Summary

Optima Health Medical Assessments is proud to partner with Serco, the UK Ministry of Defence, and consortium partners to support the recruitment of the next generation of the UK's Armed Forces through the Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS).

As a Medical Technician, you will play a key role in delivering medical assessments for candidates applying to join the UK Armed Forces. Working as part of the Pre-Service Medical Assessment team at one or more clinic sites, you will carry out a range of biometric and medical assessments, accurately record findings on the candidate portal, and support the delivery of a professional and efficient candidate experience. This role would be working from Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work if required (with uplift hourly rate).

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct 6–7 Pre-Service Medical Assessments per day, completing biometric checks to the required standards.
  • Accurately record and report biometric results using clinical IT systems.
  • Act as a chaperone during medical assessments when required, maintaining candidate dignity and privacy.
  • Complete daily equipment calibration and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Work primarily from your base clinic, with occasional travel to other local clinics.
  • Maintain clean, safe and well-stocked clinical areas.
  • Follow all relevant Optima Health policies, procedures and clinical standards.
  • Work independently within established training and escalation processes.
  • Be flexible to support early starts, late finishes and occasional weekend work.
  • Undertake occasional UK travel for training and business needs, including overnight stays where required.

Experience, Skills, And Knowledge Required For The Role

  • Healthcare experience with confidence in delivering medical assessments.
  • Competent in audiometry and spirometry.
  • ECG experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong organisation and time-management abilities.
  • Confident carrying out clinical and technical procedures.
  • Good understanding of health & safety.
