At Marriott, we believe the smallest details can make the biggest difference. From the first welcome to the final goodbye, you will play an important role in ensuring our events run smoothly, our guests feel looked after and every experience reflects our Brand Standards.
Responsibilities
Here’s what your journey with us entails:
- Prepare meeting rooms and event spaces to the required specifications, ensuring presentation is consistently aligned with Brand Standards and Event Satisfaction Survey (ESS) criteria.
- Provide a warm, professional and concise meet and greet for event organisers, establishing a positive relationship from the beginning of their event.
- Review and deliver all requirements detailed within the Banquet Event Order (BEO), ensuring every element is completed accurately and on time.
- Deliver Conference & Banqueting service standards consistently, creating a seamless experience for event organisers and guests.
- Ensure buffet and coffee stations are presented to a high standard and maintained throughout service in line with ESS and Brand Standards.
- Conduct a professional close-of-day meeting with event organisers, including accurate presentation and review of the final bill where required.
- Ensure all charges are accurately recorded, correct billing procedures are followed and all revenue is captured on a daily basis.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate operational stock levels, including stationery, crockery and other Conference & Banqueting supplies.
- Conduct weekly meeting room audits, ensuring event spaces remain aligned with Marriott Brand Standards.
- Review ESS satisfaction feedback and audit results, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting the development of appropriate actions.
- Consistently deliver and promote Marriott service standards, ensuring they are embedded within the daily operation.
- Actively support and promote the ESS concept, using guest feedback to continually improve the event experience.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to guest concerns or complaints, resolving these wherever possible and escalating matters outside your area of responsibility to the Conference & Banqueting Team Leader, Duty Manager or Operations Manager.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the hotel to ensure events are delivered smoothly and guest expectations are met or exceeded.
- Maintain a professional appearance and communicate clearly, positively and professionally with guests, event organisers and colleagues at all times.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
