At AFG

We pursue the vision of empowering our people to build African companies into global champions. We do this by catalysing a more enabling private-sector environment for African businesses through technology. AFG is proudly home to three core brands to fulfil this mission: African Hidden Champions (AHC), the leading scaling platform for homegrown mid-sized businesses in Africa; AHEAD, an online learning community for Africa’s top young professionals looking to make an impact in African organisations; and Peralta, a marketplace that allows top African freelancers to work on projects that advance the African private sector.

At African Hidden Champions (AHC)

We focus on supporting Africa’s mid-sized businesses by providing them with a platform for growth, learning, and collaboration. Central to this mission is ensuring that our members feel valued, supported, and engaged throughout their journey with AHC. The AHC Member Manager plays a key role in delivering a strong member experience, strengthening engagement, and supporting long-term retention.

12-Month Success Definition

Within the first 12 months, you will have established a high-quality, reliable member experience that makes AHC feel valuable, personal, and easy to engage with at every stage of the member journey.

  • You will have built a strong and well-curated pipeline of prospective members, applying clear selection standards that protect the quality and ambition of the AHC community. New members will be welcomed through a structured onboarding experience, with clear expectations, relevant introductions, and early access to the services, learning opportunities, and relationships most relevant to their business.
  • You will have developed and maintained high-quality member intelligence, ensuring that AHC has a current view of each member’s business, priorities, growth ambitions, challenges, and engagement history. This intelligence will enable more relevant communication, stronger relationship management, and better matching of members to AHC opportunities.
  • By the end of the year, the AHC App will have been rolled out to 80% of members, with active adoption supported through clear onboarding, regular communication, and practical assistance. Members will receive timely responses to their questions and requests, ideally within 24 to 48 hours, and will feel consistently informed about relevant service opportunities.
  • Overall, success means creating a member community that is carefully curated, consistently engaged, and more likely to remain with AHC because it sees clear and ongoing value in the platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Top Tasks

We believe in an all-hands culture at AFG where we work closely together flexibly to achieve our goals. Your day-to-day will be focused on, but not limited to, the following:

  • Curate the AHC Member Community: Manage the member selection process from initial enquiry through assessment and final decision. Ensure prospective members meet AHC’s criteria and contribute positively to the quality, ambition, and collaborative spirit of the community.
  • Deliver a Strong Member Onboarding Experience: Design and manage a clear onboarding journey for new members. Ensure every member understands the AHC offer, knows how to access relevant services and the AHC App, and is introduced to the opportunities, people, and resources most relevant to their business.
  • Build and Maintain Member Intelligence: Develop detailed and current member profiles that capture each company’s business model, growth priorities, leadership team, challenges, opportunities, and engagement with AHC. Use this insight to personalise communication, improve service matching, and identify potential risks to retention early. Collect satisfaction data from members to keep improving.
  • Drive Member Engagement and Service Adoption: Communicate regularly with members through relevant, thoughtful updates and targeted outreach. Promote new service opportunities, events, learning programmes, partnerships, and digital tools in a way that clearly connects them to members’ business needs. Act as a trusted first point of contact for members, responding to inquiries within 24 to 48 hours wherever possible.
  • Lead AHC App Rollout and Adoption: Coordinate the rollout of the AHC App to all members and provide the support needed for successful onboarding. Track adoption and usage, identify barriers, and work with relevant internal teams to improve the member experience on the platform.

Role Persona

I am naturally relationship-driven and understand that trust is earned through consistency, good listening, and reliable follow-through.

  • I enjoy getting to know people and businesses in depth. I can turn what I learn into practical support, relevant connections, and opportunities that make members feel understood at the most senior level.
  • I am organised and proactive, able to manage a growing community without losing the personal touch. I notice when engagement drops, when a member needs help, and when there is an opportunity to create more value.
