Job Title

Member of Technical Staff – Pre-Training

Salary

£150k-£225k + Equity

Company Description

Adexis is a London-based frontier research lab building the "somatosensory cortex" for Physical AI, backed by leading VCs and researchers from Anthropic, ElevenLabs, and Google DeepMind. They are creating a talent-dense organization focused on bringing the power of touch to machines to achieve physical general intelligence.

Job Description

As a founding hire, you will architect and train Adexis’s core visuo-tactile foundation model. You will own the entire pipeline, from the tokenization of visual and tactile signals to large-scale pre-training and downstream adaptation. This role defines how robots understand the physical world through touch, setting the scientific direction for physical general intelligence.

Location

London, UK

Why this role is remarkable

  • Join a founding team of outliers inspired by the Manhattan Project and Bell Labs to solve dexterous manipulation—the unsolved "missing piece" of Physical AI.
  • Work alongside researchers from Anthropic and Google DeepMind with the backing of top-tier VCs to train massive, novel multimodal models from scratch.
  • Enjoy massive scientific ownership and autonomy, defining a new field of visuo-tactile intelligence with a significant equity stake in a high-growth lab.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You Will Do

  • Design and own the end-to-end model architecture, determining how visual and tactile signals are tokenized and fused into a single learned representation.
  • Develop a staged training pipeline involving large-scale pre-training on passive data, proprietary contact-rich data, and specialized downstream robotic adaptation.
  • Establish the evaluation framework for tactile understanding and set the scaling roadmap as compute and data resources expand significantly over time.

The ideal candidate

  • Proven experience training large-scale multimodal or sequence models from scratch, with deep knowledge of data curricula, ablations, and debugging silent failures.
  • Strong technical instincts for multimodal fusion and a track record of shipping models where non-visual modalities measurably improve system performance.
  • High-ownership mindset with the ability to define architectures and make decisive technical choices when existing literature offers no clear direction.

How does this work?

  • Jack's an AI agent for job searching and career coaching. He works for you.
  • Jill is the AI recruiter working for the company. She recruits from Jack's network.
  • If it's a match and the company wants to meet you, they'll make the intro. In the meantime, if you'd like, Jack will send you excellent alternatives.

We never post fake jobs

This isn't a trick. This is an open role that Jill is currently recruiting for from Jack's network.

Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description.

We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it.

Give Jack a spin! You could land this role. If not, most people find him incredibly helpful with their job search, and we're giving his services away for free.
