Anna Freud is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Finance, Audit and Risk Committee as a voluntary Committee Member. You will support our world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families, helping us advance our mission to close the gap in wellbeing and mental health by sharing the best science and practice with everyone who impacts their lives. What you’ll do
This voluntary role will provide independent financial oversight, strategic insight and constructive challenge to support the effective governance, sustainability and risk management of Anna Freud.
- Contribute financial expertise to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Provide oversight and constructive challenge across financial management, sustainability, audit and risk.
- Identify key financial opportunities and risks to support informed decision-making by the Board of Trustees.
- Use independent judgement to promote and protect Anna Freud’s best interests.
- Keep informed about the organisation’s operating environment and uphold Anna Freud’s values, behaviours and compliance requirements.
What you’ll bring
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and qualified finance professional who can provide independent judgement, strategic insight and constructive challenge, with a strong commitment to improving children and young people’s mental health.
- Strong financial leadership experience, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
- A recognised accountancy qualification or equivalent professional expertise.
- Knowledge of the Charities SORP and an understanding of financial governance, audit and risk management.
- Sound judgement and the ability to provide constructive challenge and strategic insight.
- A commitment to Anna Freud’s values and improving outcomes for children and young people’s mental health.

- Contract type: Voluntary
- Time commitment:
- Three online Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings per year, for a three-year term
- Reasonable preparation time in advance of meetings
- Reasonable expenses reimbursed where applicable
