Pensions - Empowering Retirement Security

Are you thinking of starting a career in Pensions? If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you. We are currently looking for a Member Services Officer to join our team!

The Wiltshire Pension Fund provides the pension administration for the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for the Wiltshire area. This involves the management of over £3 billion of assets and serves over 170 employer organisations providing pensions to more than 80,000 members.

Role Overview

As a Member Services Assistant within the Pensions Fund’s Member Services Team, you will be providing administrative support alongside assisting with quality control checks on incoming work and processing various tasks which will play a crucial role in enhancing the team's efficiency. This role would be great for someone with some office experience, to gain experience in this interesting and important area of work.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in numeracy alongside a track record of excellent customer service and organisational skills. This role would be suited to an individual with a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach, and outstanding problem-solving skills. While prior experience in pensions is desirable, it is not essential and candidates without such experience will be considered.

Why Us?

Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Find out more about Our Identity, staff networks, and employee benefits here https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/why-us.

Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location.

We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported, and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying, or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust, and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
