Pensions Officer (Career Graded, Hybrid)

Develop specialist expertise in a profession that makes a lasting difference

Wiltshire Pension Fund is one of the largest Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds in the country, responsible for safeguarding the pension benefits of thousands of members and working with more than 160 employers.

We're looking for people who are analytical, detail-focused and eager to learn. Whether you're an experienced pensions professional, have a background in payroll, financial services or employee benefits, or are looking to build a career in a specialist field, we'll provide the training and support needed to help you succeed.

As a Pensions Officer, you'll use data, calculations and legislation to determine pension benefits, retirement options and transfers. You'll develop expertise in LGPS regulations while helping ensure members receive the benefits they have worked for throughout their careers. However this role goes beyond technical administration. As an ambassador for Wiltshire Pension Fund, you'll occasionally support member education through webinars, pension clinics and drop-in sessions, helping members understand their pension benefits and make informed decisions about their future.

You'll need to be comfortable working with numbers, interpreting information and applying complex rules accurately. We're looking for individuals who are motivated to continually develop their knowledge and expertise within a profession that is constantly evolving.

Our career-graded structure means you may join as an Officer, Senior Officer or Principal Officer depending on your knowledge and experience, with a clear pathway for progression as your expertise develops.

We're proud to offer flexible working arrangements and are happy to discuss what this could look like for you. The team generally spends 40-60% of their working week in the office.

Why us?

Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Find out more about Our Identity, staff networks, and employee benefits here https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/why-us.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
