Job Description
This role forms a key part of the CBA’s Archaeology Connected project which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project will run over 20 months and will help address barriers to participation in archaeology. It supports our continued approach to unlocking archaeological content for wider audiences and builds upon the outcomes and learning from our previous Reconnecting Archaeology project.
Over the last 4 years, we have developed a robust evidence base to support these assumptions. Our data is now directly shaping our response and Archaeology Connected, continuing our transformation to underpin our role as the bedrock of grassroots archaeology and to increase opportunities for the public to access and shape archaeology.
The project has three interconnected strands:
- Participatory Content: transforming how archaeology is shared and accessed.
- Participatory Networks: strengthening grassroots archaeology across the UK.
- Participatory Membership: modernising the CBA’s membership model to create clearer routes from initial interest to long-term belonging.
The Membership and Network Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of the CBA’s membership (individuals, organisations and subscribers) and will project manage our Heritage funded ‘Archaeology Connected’ project and lead work focusing on understanding our current audiences and re-imagining membership and network growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
