We are the UK and Ireland's largest risk management and insurance association with over 400 corporate and around 2,000 individual members, supported by a network of leading risk, insurance, legal, technology and consulting partners, and affiliated institutes, associations, universities and business schools. Our members enjoy access to a wide variety of face to face and online events and learning opportunities, special interest groups and regional meetings, supported by a competency framework and mentoring scheme. With over 400 CPD hours, networking opportunities, and a growing research library, Airmic supports professionals at all career stages in navigating and shaping the future of risk management.

About the role

The Membership Experience Manager is a newly created position that will play a pivotal role in strengthening Airmic’s position at the heart of the risk and insurance sector. Responsible for cultivating a highly engaged membership community, the postholder will support sustainable membership growth, drive retention and enhance the overall member experience.

Acting as an Airmic ambassador, this role requires a commercially aware professional who can confidently engage organisations of all sizes, identify opportunities for collaboration and contribute to the long-term engagement with members.

Primary Responsibilities

Member Engagement

  • Act as the main point of contact for member organisations, developing trusted and enduring relationships.
  • Design and deliver engagement approaches that increase member satisfaction, advocacy and long-term retention.
  • Develop a deep understanding of member priorities to proactively connect organisations and unlock shared opportunities.
  • Champion a member-first culture across the organisation.

Membership Growth

  • Lead proactive membership recruitment aligned to Airmic’s strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective members through networking, referrals and sector engagement.
  • Use insight and data to anticipate renewal risk and support high retention rates.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance commercial value through sponsorship, partnerships and collaborative initiatives.

External Representation

  • Serve as a visible and credible ambassador for Airmic at industry events, meetings, forums, special interest groups and regional forums.
  • Strengthen the organisation’s profile by building influential relationships across many verticals.
  • Maintain awareness of sector developments to ensure Airmic remains responsive and relevant to its members.

Member Value & Events

  • Collaborate on the development of an engaging events programme shaped by member needs and industry trends.
  • Help create forums and special interest groups that prioritise meaningful connection, knowledge-sharing and business opportunity.

Marketing & Communications

  • Partner with colleagues to deliver targeted, high-quality member communications across multiple channels.
  • Promote member successes and encourage active participation within the network.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Leverage CRM systems to track engagement, manage the membership lifecycle and produce actionable insights.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of membership processes and propositions.
  • Work collaboratively across the team to support organisational priorities.

The role

This is a full time role, 35 hours from Monday to Friday. The job holder will operate from the Airmic office in Marlow House, Lloyd’s Avenue, City of London. There is currently dispensation to work three days per week (minimum) in the Airmic office with the balance of the time working from home. Tuesday is currently a team “core” day in the office where we come together and organise a team lunch. There will be occasional travel within the UK, such as to venues for Airmic events, including the 3-day Airmic Annual Conference and Exhibition to be held in Liverpool in July 2027. It's a great and fun way to meet our partners and members!

About you

The ideal candidate would have the below expertise and experience however if you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. Essential

  • Proven success in membership engagement, account management, business development or a similar outward-facing role.
  • Strong networking capability with the confidence to engage at all levels.
  • Experience representing an organisation externally at events or industry forums.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to spot growth opportunities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full driving licence with own transport (business mileage reimbursed).

Desirable

  • Experience with ReadyMembership CRM.
  • Experience within a membership organisation.

Please note that, Marlow House is an old building and the Airmic office is on a mezzanine level between the 2nd and 3rd floors accessible only via a short but steep flight of steps after exiting the lift.
