About the Society
The Society of London Art Dealers (SLAD) is one of the UK's principal trade associations representing leading fine art dealers. For more than ninety years the Society has promoted the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and expertise within the art market while providing practical support, advice and advocacy for its members.
Following the retirement of our long-serving Administrator after almost twenty years in the role, we are seeking an organised, adaptable and proactive individual to help support the next phase of the Society's development.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for a flexible, part-time role within one of London's most respected cultural and professional organisations.
Job Purpose
Working closely with the Director General, the Administrator will play a central role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the Society, delivering excellent service to members and supporting the Executive Committee.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the Society's administration, financial processing, communications, website content and member database while helping identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Administration
- Maintain the Society's membership database using Notion.
- Add new members
- Update member records, images
- Remove resigned members
- Upload Members Exhibitions
- Upload UK and International Art Fairs
- Maintain email distribution lists.
- Respond promptly to routine member enquiries.
- Assist prospective members with the application process.

Finance & Administration
- Process receipts and payments using QuickBooks.
- Prepare and issue annual membership subscription invoices.
- Monitor outstanding subscriptions and send reminder notices.
- Maintain accurate financial records for the Treasurer and Director General.
- Assist in preparing information for year-end accounts.
Website & Digital Content
- Maintain the Society website using WordPress.
- Publish Service Providers, recommended by SLAD members.
- Upload job vacancies and classified advertisements.
- Refresh Homepage, About Us imagery and featured content.
- Ensure website information remains accurate and up to date.
Communications
- Produce the quarterly member newsletter using Mailchimp.
- Maintain mailing lists.
- Assist with member communications throughout the year.
Events & Meetings
Support the Director General in organising:
- Executive Committee meetings
- Annual General Meeting
- Member webinars
- Professional seminars
- Networking events
Responsibilities include:
- Venue liaison
- Invitations
- Registration
- Agenda preparation
- Zoom meeting administration
- Circulation of papers
- Taking action notes where required
Member Services
- Liaise with the Society's professional helpline providers.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors.
- Help resolve routine member enquiries.

General Administration
- Support the Director General in the day-to-day running of the Society.
- Maintain filing systems and electronic records.
- Assist with special projects.
- Contribute ideas for improving administrative processes.
- Help introduce new digital tools that improve efficiency and member experience.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- High attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, WordPress, Notion, QuickBooks, Mailchimp, Adobe InDesign, Zoom.
- Experience using cloud-based software.
- Comfortable learning new digital systems.

What We Offer
- Competitive Salary, depending on age and experience.
