We can provide full training and ongoing development for the right people, making this opportunity suitable for both experienced Menders and those looking to develop their skills in a trainee capacity.

We're looking for people who are practical, patient and have a great eye for detail, with pride in their work and a desire to develop their skills within a world-renowned luxury knitwear manufacturer.

Who is Barrie Knitwear?

Barrie Knitwear is a globally renowned fashion manufacturer, celebrated for combining exceptional technical expertise with traditional craftsmanship to create complex couture cashmere garments. Based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders, we have over 100 years of heritage and proudly supply some of the world’s most prestigious luxury fashion houses. As we continue to grow and transform, this is an exciting time to join our team.

What will you be doing?

As a Trainee Mender, you'll join our Knitting team and learn how to identify and deal with specific production issues on knitted garments, helping to ensure products meet our high standards before moving through the manufacturing process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
