Company Description
The Arthur Ellis Mental Health Foundation is building a powerful movement to improve access to mental health support for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We are seeking dedicated volunteer therapists to join us in delivering compassionate, life-changing support to those who need it most.
Role Description
The Mental Health Mentor is a remote, contract role focused on providing empathetic, practical support to individuals accessing the Foundation’s telehealth services. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conducting scheduled 1:1 mentoring sessions online
- Helping mentees develop coping strategies
- Supporting them in setting and working toward personal wellbeing goals
The mentor will:
- Document session notes accurately
- Follow organizational safeguarding and risk escalation procedures
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport in a remote setting.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, counselling, or mental health support, preferably with young people and adults in diverse communities.
- Knowledge of mental health concepts, wellbeing strategies, and signposting to appropriate services, with an understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
- Comfort with telehealth platforms and digital tools, including video conferencing, secure documentation systems, and basic office software.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, handle sensitive information confidentially, and work in alignment with ethical guidelines.
- Organizational and time-management skills to manage a caseload, keep timely records, and honour scheduled sessions reliably.
- Relevant training or qualifications in mental health, psychology, social work, coaching, or a related field are highly beneficial.
- Experience collaborating with schools, workplaces, charities, or community organizations is an asset, as is familiarity with wellbeing workshops or group facilitation.
