Senior Occupational Therapist – Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation
Location: Hampshire
Contract: Locum
Hours: 15 Hours Per Week (Across 2 Days, Flexible Working Pattern Available)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 Months Initially, With a View to Extension Pending Permanent Recruitment
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join their specialist team. This rewarding locum opportunity involves working within an adult mental health rehabilitation service, supporting male adults of working age with complex and enduring mental health needs.
This role would suit an Occupational Therapist with several years of experience within adult mental health rehabilitation and a strong understanding of substance misuse services. You will play a key role within the multidisciplinary team, helping service users maximise independence, develop meaningful routines, and achieve positive recovery outcomes.

- Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions within an adult mental health rehabilitation setting.
- Support male adults with complex and enduring mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, bipolar disorder, and co-existing substance misuse needs.
- Develop and implement person-centred rehabilitation programmes that promote independence, recovery, and community engagement.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical leadership and specialist occupational therapy expertise within the service.
- Supervise and support an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Activity Co-ordinator.
- Contribute to care planning, risk management, and discharge planning processes.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and professional documentation in line with HCPC standards.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Several years' experience working within adult mental health rehabilitation services.
- Experience supporting individuals with substance misuse needs alongside complex mental health conditions.
- Strong understanding of recovery-focused and person-centred practice.
- Previous experience supervising support staff or junior team members.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary working skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider clinical team.
