Job Description: Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking to employ and support a Mental Health Practitioner trained in the delivery of low-medium intensity psychological formulation, assessment, and treatment in Adult Secondary Care. The post holder will take on a role as a Named Key Worker within the Croydon South Adult Community Secondary Care Neighbourhood Centre. They will hold a dedicated caseload, developing risk management and care plans, coordinating care, and delivering a high-quality and structured treatment approach. This will involve both individual case management and low-medium intensity psychological interventions.

Applications are welcome from qualified, experienced, and accredited practitioners – Clinical Associates in Psychology and Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners.

About the Centre

The Centre provides evidence-based treatment for service-users with Severe Mental Health difficulties including those with:

  • Psychosis Condition
  • Eating Disorders
  • Complex Emotional Needs
  • Complex Trauma
  • A diagnosis of Personality Disorder

Role Requirements

The post holder will need excellent clinical and risk assessment skills and can work autonomously in carrying out prompt and comprehensive patient assessments whilst ensuring effective transition to other appropriate clinical pathways.

Working Hours

The post holder will work a normal shift pattern of Monday-Friday 9:00-17:00.

Responsibilities

This post holder will provide psychological interventions to the Croydon South Adult Community Secondary Care Neighbourhood Centre and to individuals with complex and severe mental health problems, focusing on individual strengths and the utilisation of community assets and resources to help people with what matters most to them.

The work undertaken will be supervised by a Qualified Senior Specialist Psychological Therapist who will provide governance for the clinical work carried out according to an individual’s specified Care Plan.

About South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM)

SLaM provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.

SLaM employ around 5,000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient, and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich.
