Mental Health Practitioner – Supporting Students in Higher Education

Location: London

Contract: Full-time, 12 Month FTC

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days on campus, 2 days remote)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

About the Role

QA Higher Education is looking for a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Safeguarding, Student Life & Wellbeing team.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of students experiencing mental health difficulties and/or disabilities, providing tailored support and therapeutic interventions to help them succeed throughout their academic journey. Working closely with colleagues across wellbeing, disability and student support services, you will play a key role in promoting student mental health, managing risk, and ensuring students can access the support they need both internally and externally.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mental health professional who is passionate about student wellbeing and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of undergraduate and postgraduate students with mental health needs and disabilities.
  • Deliver focused mental health interventions both in person and remotely.
  • Conduct mental health assessments, provide advice, signposting and referrals.
  • Respond to students experiencing mental health crises, undertaking risk assessments and coordinating appropriate support.
  • Build effective relationships with external services including GPs, NHS mental health teams and social care providers.
  • Support the delivery of welfare services across multiple channels, including on campus, by phone and email.
  • Contribute to wellbeing initiatives, awareness campaigns and staff training programmes.
  • Support the development of policies, procedures and services that enhance the student experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
