About the Role
We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) to join our small and supportive Community Mental Health Team for older adults. This is a great opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic multidisciplinary team, with lots of support and CPD opportunities.
We provide patient-focused, evidence-based mental health interventions and assessment for people aged 65 and above, with a range of Functional and Organic mental health illnesses.
Key Requirements
- Relevant NMC or HCPC registration.
- Relevant pre-registration experience of working in mental health environments (not essential).
- Previous experience and skills which can transfer into this role – good communication, organizational skills, and timekeeping amongst others.
- We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
- People who are passionate about working with older people in the community experiencing mental health challenges.
Role Details
- The post is based at Brookfields Hospital.
- CPFT supports agile working, with flexibility for work-life balance.
- Visits to the team are welcome.
- There is free parking onsite.
- You will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines.
- You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle.

Responsibilities
- Providing support interventions for people with significant mental health conditions.
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team with colleagues in the wider Older People's Mental Health Team.
- Monitoring and reviewing the use of prescribed medications.
Your primary area of coverage will be Central Cambridge, but you must also remain flexible to support other parts of Cambridge as needed. Regular travel will be essential for this role. We provide a preceptorship programme and regular support and supervision.
